Godswill Akpabio Golden Hunt is a music and TV talent search show aimed at searching, discovering, empowering and promoting Nigerian youths with musical aptitude, thus developing their individual qualities in musical presentation and performances. This programme is endorsement by the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Godswill Akpabio Golden Hunt is the only historically reality TV show in South- South Nigeria. In its first edition which ended on February 12, 2012; 348 youths were auditioned at the
three (3) senatorial districts of Akwa Ibom State. 30 contestants, 10 from each center were enrolled for the take off of the hunt. These 30 youths were housed for 10 weeks, performing in 18 live shows, including eviction shows. The best 6 contestants became finalists and battled for the star prize; a brand new car and N2.5million recording deal.
OBJECTIVES OF THE HUNT
- To search, discover, encourage; and promote the unique musical talents in the Akwa Ibom Child.
- To facilitate acceptable standard, genre, and ethics for the music industry.
- To create a unique/ambiance environment for the youth from diverse background with musical abilities to interact, exchange ideas and coexist peacefully.
- To train and educate the contestants on music production/programming, stage carriage/performance and singing.
- To promote career development and professionalism in the music industry
- To give the youth a worthy engagement and a sense of employment, thus reducing social vices, restiveness and insecurity at home, in the State and Nigeria at large.
- To inculcate patriotic values in the contestants.
CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION
The following categories of youths are an embodiment of this show:
Participants picked a
FREE FORM at the venue of Audition.
- Youths from 16 years and above.
- Youths with inherent Musical aptitudes
- Youths who are Nigerian citizens
LOCATION
The location for the show is Akwa Ibom State and is divided into three centers based on senatorial district lines for ease of co-ordination. They centers are: Ikot Ekpene, Eket and Uyo for the Audition; While the camp is will be situated in Uyo.
The Primary Stage (Auditions)
The auditions will take place as follows:
- Eket audition: 9th October, 2012.
- Ikot Ekpene audition: 11th October, 2012.
- Uyo audition: 13th October, 2012.
- Final audition: 20th October, 2012.
The Secondary Stage (The House / TV Reality Show)
In this stage, the earlier selected participants from the primary stage, living together within the confines of a house where they will be showcased to all and sundry via TV.
This stage also involves the training, grooming and educating the contestants coupled with exposure to an audience to aid in the selection of the winner. In the secondary stage, self-confidence, disposition, level of expertise, ability to relate to co-housemates, attitude, ability to learn fast, as well as contestants' charisma would be thoroughly scrutinized and judged. This stage has other side attractions.
15 finalist will be picked to battle for the grand prize.
The Tertiary Stage (The Grand Finale)
This is the stage were THE WINNER emerges after a thorough scrutiny at the secondary stage.
The said winner shall be entitled to the following:
- A brand new car.
- A one year recording/promotional deal worth two million five hundred thousand naira (N2, 500,000.00).
2ND Prize Winner
- A one year recording/promotional deal worth one million five hundred thousand naira (N1, 500,000.00).
3RD Prize Winner
- A one year recording/promotional deal worth seven hundred and fifty thousand naira (N750, 000.00).
